20 veterans end their lives every day. Since 2001, the rate of suicide among US Veterans who use VA services increased by 8.8%, while the rate of suicide among Veterans who do not use VA services increased by 38.6%.
As suicides and chronic drug abuse rise. Senator Menendez has submitted Senate Bill 79, offering medical marijuana for veterans who suffer PTSD.

PTSD affects 31% of Vietnam Veterans, 10% of Gulf War Veterans, and 20% of Iraq War veterans, with 50% of returning veterans not seeking medical assistance according to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
With over 1.7 million veterans living in Texas with must ensure we create laws the protect our veterans and save lives. Our legislatures must be to be compassionate and end the war on drugs. We don’t have the luxury of losing another life.
